The ever talented and inspiring Busselton musician Kaleb Treacy has released a brand new single Morning Song which he wrote with his music college friends.
The group, made up of Hannah Smillie, Nikita Shiels, Jonah Chiera, Kate James and Brandon Richards, first recorded the song back in 2013, with Mr Treacy wanting to give it another go at his Busselton studio.
Mr Treacy said he was stoked and proud of his crew for getting the single released.
"I remember getting goosebumps the first time I heard them jamming it's a great feeling to know that it's out into the world for people to hear," he said.
After music college Mr Treacy said the group all went their separate ways to purse other days jobs or further their own music careers.
"It was tough to fit in with everyone's schedule, hence why it has been a long project, the best part of three years, but we are all unbelievably stoked with the outcome," he said.
"Morning Sun is a catchy blues song with little hints of rock throughout.
"It's about having to face challenges in the daily grind that we call life, getting through however you can and realising that there's always a new dawn."
Mr Treacy, who lives with cerebral palsy, had a mystery virus in 2014 which affected his hearing, something he still struggles with today.
"I've weighed up several times whether its worth sticking with music or find another path, but music has always been a passion and I always think where there's a will, there's a way," he said.
"It's pretty special to be able to hang out with five of your friends and create something that you all love, we had a ball working on it and everyone's excited to hear what people think."
Mr Treacy said while everyone was self isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic he had been keeping his mind occupied by writing music.
"To be honest it hasn't really affected me too much yet as I've had musicians in recording prior to the pandemic so it's all mixing at the moment which is done by myself," he said.
"I'm watching it unfold in my music network though and it is pretty devastating with all the pubs/bars/restaurants closing as that was the majority of their income.
"Streaming our music will really help during all of this, just like we're getting takeaway from local businesses, if we stream music it could keep our favourite artists afloat.
"My doors are still open for anything besides recording as I think it's really important to keep our creativity going.
"If I can help in anyway feel free to reach out to us at facebook.com/imoceanstudiobsn."
The single was released on all streaming platforms on March 25, 2020. A quick link to the song can also be found at gyro.lnk.to/MorningSun.
