It is game, set and match for the Honourable Barry House who stepped down as president of the Busselton Tennis Club at its annual general meeting on Saturday seeing James McGregor take on the role
Mr House was the club's patron for many years before he was elected as president in 2016 to help facilitate the transition to relocate from the club's old premises on Marine Terrace to the new tennis centre at Barnard Park in November 2019.
He successfully led the club in a remarkable transformation and delivered in partnership with the City of Busselton, a truly superb community and sporting facility on the foreshore point that promises to become the centre of tennis in the South West.
Mr House said in his outgoing speech that he was proud of the position the club was in and its aim to be a major tennis centre and a draw card for the South West despite recent uncertain COVID times.
He said it was the healthy attitude of the club's members and especially the willingness of volunteers and sponsors who have contributed directly to increased membership numbers.
"Coaching facilities and junior numbers have also improved due to the club's range of qualified Tennis Central coaching staff and their direct connection to local schools, thus presenting the club with the prospect of a strong future for decades to come," he said.
As Mr House moved onto his next big challenge, the club thanked him and wished him all the best.
