City of Busselton Council have accepted a petition for consideration from the Gunyulgup Valley Action Group which opposes a change of land uses at Millbrook Estate in Yallingup.
A change to Local Planning Scheme 21 Amendment 45, which is out for public consultation, could make way for a hotel, tavern, small bar, exhibition and reception centre within in the estate.
Gunyulgup Valley Action Group chairman said at the council meeting that the area acted as a natural ampitheatre and residents were concerned there would be a loss of amenity from increased noise levels.
The developer Kevin Merrifield revisted the development with city officers to identify alternative land uses within the estate, after a wedding reception venture proved nonviable because of certain conditions placed on the approval which restricted its trading hours.
