The Magpies came out swooping at the Geographe Leisure Centre for the final round of the South West Netball Football League season finishing off with two convincing wins.
The League Magpies came out firing with a clinical display of netball that clearly ruffled some feathers.
Emma Borinelli was simply outstanding in defence whilst Maia Bratton and Courtney Webb were in a class of their own proving too much for the young Bunbury Bulldogs defenders to handle.
The Magpies flew to an early 17-7 lead.
With stalwart defender Tammy Thornley coming off an injury at the break there was some shuffling around with former Magpie player Dani Trott stepping onto the court in an unfamiliar role that once she adjusted to she seemed to relish forming a formidable combination with Borinelli and Taneika Handley at WD.
Not to be outshone up the attack end Rennie Meadmore and Phoebe Pethybridge stepped up their work rate and the pace was certainly fast and furious as the Magpies extended their lead 36-18.
In the third term the Bunbury Bulldogs fought back with Shantelle Tassone finding her rhythm as she started to put some shots away and the young defenders Meg Taaf, Holly Burrows and Sophie Proudfoot made the Magpies pay for any wayward passes in what resulted in an even quarter with the score 14-13 narrowly in the Magpies favour.
Going into the final term Chief Bratton decided to have a well deserved break and swung the extremely versatile Meadmore into goals.
Another former Magpie, Belle Hancock certainly made her presence known at WD and it was quite the sight to behold with her determination to intercept that ball.
The Bulldogs however weren't finished and flooded the centre court making it very congested and the Magpies struggled with transitioning the ball down the court.
It became a little messy in an evenly contested quarter but the damage had been done in the first half as the Magpies cruised to a 59-40 victory which earnt them top spot on the ladder.
The 18s were also looking to cement their position in the top four.
The first quarter opened with some nervous errors from the Magpies that were eventually capitalised on by Bunbury.
The Magpies defence held strong and soon the full court pressure that has been a hallmark of their game this season started to reap rewards with turnovers from Montanna Tenardi, Kalani Bate-Henryand Elle Mullumby resulting in scoring opportunities that the attacking players took full advantage of.
Even with some ill-disciplined passing the Magpies went to the quarter break with a comfortable 13-4 lead.
The second quarter saw the Magpies ratchet up the pressure.
From the defensive rebounding and intercepts, through the speed of the mid court dynamic duo of Felicty Watson and Sally Conroy and the shooting accuracy of Asha Hughes and Jordie Harcombe in goals the Magpies really clicked and went to the major break with a commanding 34-13 lead.
The third quarter saw the Magpies extend their dominance with a great display of team play which included Izzy Legros coming on into the centre position and giving Watson a rest.
Even the long-range shooting accuracy of Bunbury couldn't keep them in the game as the score line extended to an imposing 52-19 lead to Busselton.
The final quarter saw the Magpies maintain their intensity and discipline as they closed the game out with a 71-26 final score line.
If they can bring this to the final series who know what the coming weeks may hold.
This concludes the season with the League Magpies being crowned Minor Premiers and the 18 & Unders finishing in third place.
