A group of 16 students from Curtin University joined Vasse Scouts WA to spruce up their campground on Caves Road in Siesta Park.
Curtin University student Gilliam Dutoit said they spent a day putting in firebreaks around the campground and mowing lawns.
"We also did a bit of general maintenance and upkeep, sanding down and repainting outdoor tables which are used for camping," he said.
"We also painted a lot of door frames, and doors at the Scout Hall to neaten it up and reorganised the hall for people who will camp there on the weekends."
But it wasn't all work for the university students, Mr Dutoit said they also got to have a bit of fun while they helped the scouts tidy up their campground.
"We had a bonfire with the scout leaders and ate really good food, the guys that worked there made some meals for us," he said.
"We had a little bit of rain which we managed to work through so it wasn't too bad.
"It was fun and the guys from Vasse Scouts really showed their appreciation because the council were onto them about firebreaks, so it was good for them to have people to help out.
"The fact we had so many volunteers definitely helped, and we made a contribution which was nice."
