The Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club will launch its summer season on October 25, 2020 with a small ceremony at the club followed by sailing of the annual Patron's Cup.
DBYC is proud to enjoy the ongoing patronage of former local MLC Mr Barry House AM.
The club runs sail training for beginner members, a five month racing program for dinghies (for all ages) and weekly twilight social sailing for keel boats.
It also has a lively social program and provides facilities to visiting yachts throughout the summer and autumn boating season.
DBYC commodore Peter Hales said their dinghy racing program was at its healthiest level of activity for years, with a strong representation of Laser dinghies, the Club's own fleet of Puffin Pacers and assorted other small boats.
"Our vice commodore Brian Innes has made special effort to set up membership packages with tuition for beginners," he said.
"As well as that, we employ coaches to develop the skills of our juniors, so I think it's fair to say sailing at the club is possibly at its healthiest for years.
"Ours is a real grassroots community club with everything managed by volunteers and members.
"This year we've welcomed a swag of new members but also attracted a group of keen race-day volunteers who have come to the club for its sense of fraternity and the way it has provided them with a sense of contributing.
"The club is ready for a great 2020/21 season."
