Making her debut in Margaret River Region Open Studios this year, artist Deidre Bruhn will be welcoming guests into her newly established Quindalup studio.

Bruhn is an accomplished mixed media artist who relocated from Perth several years ago after years of running a business with her husband.

She now has time to invest in her art, a talent she barely dabbled in since school.

"It is very mixed media, expressive and intuitive - that is the way I work - it is an ever evolving process," she said.

"I mainly work in the figure or faces on small boards, big boards, paper or canvases, a mixed bag."

Brunh often works with a model and uses a mix of pencils, crayons, charcoal, inks, oil pastels and graphite.

Her work is sold through the Studio Gallery Group in Melbourne and Sydney which she said were more accepting of work "that was a bit out there."

"I do what I do because I love it," she said.

"I love inventing."

Most recently she has been trying her hand at abstract pieces as a side project.

"I think it is good to stretch yourself as an artist and try different things, it is out of my comfort zone, although I have bits of collage on there it is a different process.

"I am trying to mix it up a bit and have a variety of work so it is visually stimulating."

MRROS runs from September 11 to 26 with a record number of artists taking part this year from Busselton to Witchcliffe.
