Sun, sand, blue water and some of Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club's easy-to-sail training dinghies... All that's missing is you.
On Sunday October 10, the DBYC's annual Try Sailing Day is happening again on the - let's face it - sensational beach out front of the Club at Quindalup.
This is a safe, clean and family-friendly spot to put your toe in the water, so to speak, of the marvellous pastime that is sailing.
The club will have instructors on hand for a gentle introduction to our sport and club.
Our aim is to give all comers a chance to try sailing for the first time and, if it interests families or individuals, welcome them to the club's membership.
We can talk about that on the beach.
"Australia is one of the great sailing nations of the world," says DBYC Commodore Brian Innes.
"And a lot of our greatest sailors began their careers at just such a Try Sailing Day held by their local club.
"The important thing to remember is that the club is not all about competitive sailing. It's about the family and community and this is a great way to be introduced to some wonderful like-minded people."
All you need to know is that it's free, starts at 9 am, will be attended by plenty of DBYC folks and safety craft and finishes at midday.
For anyone who has ever fancied trying the original eco-friendly, solar-powered, environmentally-friendly pastime of sailing, this is your chance.
See you on the beach Sunday, October 10, from 9 am. DBYC can be reached by car at 307 Geographe Bay Rd, Quindalup and we have plenty of parking available.
