Police have announced that human remains found on a public property in Pemberton yesterday, September 15, are believed to be those of missing 40-year-old Tony Ditri.
The remains were located by a member of the public and the homicide squad along with forensic officers are currently at the scene.
Mr Ditri's family have been made aware of this development.
Mr Ditri was last seen leaving an address in Pemberton on August 27, 2021 and welfare concerns peaked when he was officially named a missing person on August 30 and his case was deemed suspicious by police.
A representative from Police Media has said that since a 64-year-old Pemberton man has been charged with murder in relation to Mr Ditri's disappearance, no further information could be disclosed.
"It is not appropriate to release any further details at this time as the matter is now before the courts," the representative said.
