About me
I moved with my family to Busselton in 1997 (our daughters were six and two at the time) after purchasing a distribution business. In 2004, we were the fastest growing confectionery wholesaler in Australia to then see the demise of this business due to deregulated trading within the Shire and the region. We then went on to create Margaret River Beverages. Deregulation was the catalyst of my desire to stand for local government.
In 2005, I was elected to the Shire, re-elected in 2009 and elected as Deputy President by my peers. I resigned in 2010 to move to Canberra for work.
After spending five years in Canberra, working at Canberra Airport, we returned home to be closer to family. I obtained a Diploma of Aviation during that time.
After contracting Lyme disease I have worked hard to regain my health and have volunteered on several Lyme related boards and have worked hard to get Lyme disease recognised in Australia.
I currently work at the Busselton Margaret River Airport screening FIFO workers.
I am a Rotarian.
In 2020, I created the Bay to Bay Action Group with my fellow committee members to inform the community and act on their behalf.
Motivation
Local government is, in my opinion, the best form of government which can truly represent the people at a grass roots level. It is a position which is a privilege, not a right.
Needs addressing
The 'can do' attitude and the inability of the council to truly listen to the community.
In my spare time
Walking the dog, catching up with friends and family, volunteering, researching, and wine tasting.
