About me
We eagerly left Perth in 1997 to build a new home and life in Busselton. My husband is a geologist, currently working on several projects in The Pilbara. We've been married 32 years, and often joke that we've only lived together for about 10.
Our daughter is getting married next year and has just built a home in Vasse. She works with the Education Department as a school psychologist. As an 'empty nester', I can devote myself fulltime to working for our community.
I have been employed by the Red Cross, Activ Foundation, Mission Australia, and Edith Cowan University. I completed a Business Degree in marketing while being a sessional marker and guest lecturer at the same time.
Community service is also extremely important to our family, having volunteered at every club and organisation we've belonged to. My most memorable experience was assisting new mothers as a Red Cross family support worker.
Motivation
I would provide a unique perspective to council as a long-term resident. With no set agenda, motivation stems from wanting honest and open communication between the council and residents. I will commit to actions that serve the needs of our region, including a focus on the improved financial management for the benefit of ratepayers.
Over the past year I have developed a keen interest in our Council by reading the online material, attending council meetings and asking difficult questions. I was inspired by councillor Sue Riccelli's insight and honest representation of the city's residents at council meetings.
Vote for me and I will commit to be a strong presence and true voice for residents on council.
In my spare time
I don't watch TV, preferring to spend my leisure time completing online uni courses in history and psychology; studying our family genealogy; multimedia crafting; playing ukulele; and hanging out with my Grand-dog, George. I enjoy learning and having new challenges.
