About me
I moved to Busselton in 2007 when I was transferred here as a paramedic. I have two teenage children and seven stepsons ranging in age from 32 years old to five years old.
I have been a volunteer on the boards of the Busselton Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), South West Counselling Inc (current), the Margaret River Region Wedding and Events Association and the CQ University Advisory Committee on tertiary education.
I left the ambulance service after 14 years and established a business in the Vasse Business Park before accepting the position of chief executive at the BCCI in 2017. That year I was also contracted as the chief executive of the Dunsborough Yallingup Chamber of Commerce and Industry and signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the Capes Region Business Network.
I enrolled in my MBA qualification at the CQ University in 2018.
Motivation
I have been a strong advocate for business and sustainable economic development in this region and I would like to be involved in developing policy and guidelines that will assist with continued economic and social development.
As CEO of the BCCI, I made it my purpose to visit businesses, groups and associations in person to hear what their concerns were then sought solutions. That's what I will bring to the City of Busselton Council.
Needs addressing
Currently, there is a desperate housing affordability and accessibility crisis. There are people whose lives and work have been based in this region for many years who have had to leave as there are limited homes available.
There are people employed here who are having to find somewhere to sleep each night.
While housing is a responsibility of the state government, I believe there are measures the local government can take to address this crisis.
In my spare time
I'm at the beach with our dog, or shucking oysters with my partner for our business Get Pickled and Get Shucked.
