A team of 59 riders from Cowaramup, Collie and Bunbury BMX Clubs have joined forces to take out the inaugural WA Festival of BMX competition.
After the National BMX Competition that was to be held at the Westside BMX Club in Balcatta was cancelled due to the WA border being closed, a WA intra-club competition - the Festival of BMX - was borne.
The South West kids swarmed the event and were the loudest and proudest.

On Saturday November 27 the riders gathered in 40 degree heat to form their super-team, South West BMX.
Cowaramup BMX Club spokesperson Tracey Gregory said the competition was positive news for the sport.
"As the last two years have seen the National BMX Championships canceled due to COVID-19, this competition was a fantastic initiative," she said.
The competition brought 309 riders from across WA to compete for the title.
Cowaramup BMX's Ned, Beau and Mitch Gregory, Tasman, Kyle and Rueben Rodley and Banjo Casey rode their hearts out together with their Bunbury and Collie team members, and were outstanding in the scorching conditions.
Riders ranged in age from just 3 years to over 50 years of age, and raced well into the twilight, securing respectable positions and a wealth of points as racing came to an end and the team relays commenced.
Between main events, novelty races were a blast from the past as Sidehacks and Retro bikes hit the track and riders had some fun with the heavy and challenging machines.
"The South West kids swarmed the event and were the loudest and proudest," Ms Gregory said.
With the final event over, it was announced the South West team had secured victory in the overall event, narrowly beating the home club by a handful of points and taking home the $1000 prize money.
