In the lead up to the Busselton Marine Rescue Group's open day in January, it is calling for more people to come forward and volunteer.
The group's commander Peter Taylor said there was more to volunteering than being on the water.
As a marine rescue group volunteer there are roles as a boat crew, skipper and radio room. When people sign up as interested in joining, the group holds an introductory session which outlines what is expected once you become a volunteer training is provided after this session.
Mr Taylor said previous experience wasn't compulsory but love and interest of the water helped.
"The group combines love of boating with helping the community and great comeraderie," Mr Taylor said.
