A long-running saga involving a Dunsborough Police officer speeding to get Jimmy Barnes and members of Cold Chisel to a Sandalford Estate concert in November 2011 has come to an end today.
Sergeant Craig Anderson was found guilty of speeding and has been fined $700 plus $1622 in court costs.
It is also and it is understood he will lose five demerit points.
Police prosecutor James Bennett successfully argued that Sergeant Anderson was not exempt from the Road Traffic Code while speeding.
Sergeant Anderson’s defence lawyer Lyn Zinenko said it was a disappointing outcome.
“He thought he was doing the job he was being paid to do.”
Magistrate Bromfield said he understood the incident had been embarrassing to Sergeant Anderson who is a career officer with nearly 25 years of experience.
