BUNBURY United travelled to Churchill Park on Sunday, and came away 1-0 winners.
Busselton Men’s Division 1 exerted plenty of pressure on the second placed Bunbury team.
No score recorded for either team before halftime. Ten minutes into the second half Bunbury got on the board, something Busselton couldn’t manage to do, despite numerous attempts going just wide of the mark.
Domination of the game counted for nothing for the home team, with failure to finish being the undoing of the team for most of this season.
Extra effort from Jason Foord earned him the Esplanade Hotel player of the day award.
The Busselton Reserves Men’s team went down to Bunbury United on Sunday, 3-2.
Control of this match seemed paramount with the head of the South West Referees, John Signorini in charge on the day.
And take charge he did, quashing anything reckless and untoward with the appropriate penalty.
Both teams went down to 10 men after red cards were issued. Goal scorers for Busselton were Allan Dowling and David Harrison.
Bunbury United came up against a Busselton men’s league team with a level of confidence that took them by surprise.
With Busselton in control of the match, Bunbury had to work hard to stay in the game.
There’s nothing like a few goals to dent the armour and Shane Russell did just that with a hat-trick to his name.
Bunbury scored courtesy of a spot kick, which was snuffed out by a goal from Danny Kane, making Busselton convincing 4-1 winners.
