BUSSELTON Martial Arts recently started a ‘Little Samurai’ program for 4-5 year olds, which was received with great success.
The 30 minute after-school program is designed to be high in energy, allowing children to learn early-life concepts and skills such as coordination, focus, cooperation, teamwork, self-esteem and confidence.
“Having a daughter we felt very strongly about her learning self-confidence and the ability to defend herself,” parent Gail Perry said.
“Karate provides the perfect platform to learn both, in a fun, safe, environment. Our little girl absolutely loves the Little Samurai class.”
Sensei Craig Crampton said the school had quadrupled its membership base in just nine months, which led to new classes being opened.
With the school set to celebrate 20 years of operation next March, the Little Samurai program was another he hoped to expand.
“We would like to expand the program to two days a week to include a Thursday program after school and give an option for all students to train twice a week,” he said.
“We are hoping to have the program to also include Saturday mornings in the New Year to come.
“Currently we have openings for new members of all ages, especially beginners, and this includes an adult beginner’s class on Saturday mornings for adults as well as weeknights.
“Regardless of your age the hardest step is arriving at the door.
“Once there, we promote the best of classical martial arts training with modern insights in a friendly, safe and family orientated atmosphere.
“We also provide those hard classes for members who are chasing the little bit extra in their training for fitness and martial arts.”
