PRIZES for the Busselton Jetty Swim are set to be at an all time high for next years iconic race.
Thanks to local business and event sponsor, Nara Training and Assessing, $2000 will now be up for grabs.
Swimmers can now register for next year’s race which will be held on February 8 and 9, 2014.
In the past 19 years, the 40 minute barrier has not been broken and Nara Training is hoping the increased winnings could be a great incentive.
The fastest male record to date is 40 minutes and four seconds by Travis Nederpelt and the fastest women’s record is 43 minutes and 37 seconds by Melissa Benson.
The amount of $1000 will be available to the fastest man or woman to beat the existing solo record.
Managing Director of Nara Training and Assessing Joe Reither said every year the swimmers put on a great show and often the weather is what gets between them and breaking records.
“All the spectators love to witness a close finish and these prizes just add a little more excitement to the day,” he said.
Entries received before December 1, 2013 go in the draw to win an early bird prize from Westralia Helicopters for a scenic helicopter flight for two over Geographe Bay.
