DUNSBOROUGH police have sent a strong message to Leavers after they seized more than $2,000 worth of alcohol today.
More than 250 litres of alcohol was confiscated from an unoccupied property on Kunzea Way in Dunsborough.
The police received an anonymous tip off today about a large quantity of alcohol stashed behind a shed in preparation for the upcoming Leavers Week.
It is believed that three 17-year-old girls from Perth are involved with the police findings.
Dunsborough Sergeant Craig Anderson said that a community source alerted them to the hidden alcohol but no contact had been made with the girls or their parents at this stage.
“We have found a receipt that was located with the alcohol from a Canning Highway bottle shop in Perth, so police will obtain CCTV footage from that bottle shop to identify the purchaser,” he said.
“We have saved a lot of misery and this certainly would have contributed to the ugly side of Leavers Week.”
The alcohol was removed and logged back at the Dunsborough police station to be destroyed.
The owners of the property were not involved in the incident.
Sergeant Anderson’s message to parents, guardians or older friends who plan to supply alcohol to underage Leavers is;
“If you haven’t got the message, give me a ring, you can walk around the Leavers zone with me and see the medical tent and I can show you the ugly side of Leavers and perhaps then you will rethink when you go to give kids alcohol,” he said.
Leavers Week in Dunsborough will start next Monday.
