Update: An unruly passenger has forced a Virgin Australia flight to be held on the runway at Bali, as Indonesian police get involved.
Earlier: A Virgin Australia spokesman discounted earlier reports of a hijacking, and said there had rather been a drunken passenger or a medical emergency.
"We're still trying to get to the bottom of what happened, but the plane has landed safely at Denpasar," he said.
The head of the Indonesian National Police detective unit said police "already have one perpetrator he’s now being interrogated".
The aircraft was a Boeing 737-800, he said.
A spokesman for the Indonesian military, Major General Fuad Basya, earlier said: "We are now trying to have communications with the airplane but are still unable to do so. The airplane is now at one end of the runway," he said.
