ST Joseph’s Mackillop Junior Soccer Club has been awarded a $750 grant through the McDonald’s GWN7 Junior Sports Trust to purchase much needed equipment including soccer balls and goalie gloves.
The club operates on a minimal budget to keep sport affordable to local families but with more than 150 members the equipment gets worn out very quickly.
The grant will allow their junior members to experience playing with new balls and equipment, and help them to develop their skills.
The Junior Sports Trust provides regional clubs and schools with the means to purchase sporting infrastructure, new equipment or develop and promote junior sporting events.
McDonald’s Busselton licensee John Frankham said it was great to see the trust giving junior sports groups in regional WA the equipment and facilities needed to increase participation in sport and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
“As a major employer of young people in the community, we actively seek opportunities to assist local sporting groups and schools,” Mr Frankham said.
“No matter where they are located in regional WA, these clubs and schools get the opportunity to develop their youth programs and provide the best facilities possible to their communities.”
