THE ladies of the Busselton Tennis Club suffered through stormy conditions during the latest rounds of the Pennant competition.
With key players still missing the A1 Diamonds battled the weather and their opponents, but were ultimately defeated by Bunbury five sets to seven, 51 games to 59.
The A2 Topaz’s experienced a similar fate finding the gusty conditions and Josie’s back hand unbeatable against Australind. The nine sets to three loss prompted the wounded Topaz’s to indulge in some retail therapy before heading back home.
Unfortunately it was all bad news for the ladies this week with the A3 Zircons being beaten by Australind three sets to nine, 38 games to 64.
The Thursday Scroungers endured the same windy conditions as the women but it resulted in some stellar tennis.
Team Mars beat the Saturians eight sets to four and Tony Crolla rocketed to the top of the leader board.
The match of the day went to the men’s doubles with Guido Ghedina and Tony Crolla prevailing in a tie-break against Brian Stewart and Max Cussons nine sets to seven.
Sunday’s handicap doubles saw Andrew O’Neil triumphant again in the men’s division with partner Grayden Clark.
The ladies division was won Tracy Adams and Tara Doyle.
