A dangerous thunderstorm warning has been issued for inland areas, as wild weather continues to whip the southern half of Western Australia.
The Bureau of Meteorology said on Thursday damaging storms would hit an area bounded by Gingin to Billabong Roadhouse, Errabiddy to Wiluna, Kalgoorlie to Katanning, to Bridgetown and east of the Perth Hills back to Gingin.
This included residences in, near or between Dalwallinu, Northampton, Meekatharra and Southern Cross, but did not include York and Kalgoorlie.
With destructive winds, large hail, heavy rain and flash floods expected to hit early this afternoon and through the evening, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services warned residents to secure their properties and prepare for any emergency.
DFES said while it was not unusual weather for this time of year, it had the potential to damage homes and make travel dangerous.
The department warned campers to find shelter away from trees, powerlines, storm water drains and streams, and for local residents to move vehicles and boats under cover, secure outdoor objects, bring pets inside, and unplug electrical appliances while avoiding the use of landline telephone if there was lightning.
"Storms could cause significant damage to homes and property," DFES warned.
Residents of homes badly damaged by the storm can call the Sate and Emergency Services on 132 500, or 000 in a life-threatening situation.
