Dear Editor,
I HAVE attended the Margaret River Gourmet Escape since the first event and have always enjoyed it, but this year more so.
My friend and I had a cooking class with the Siemens stall which was fantastic value for money, learning to cook salmon. We also sampled wine and some tasting plates.
How lovely to experience such food along with the interesting shows on stage. The event has indeed grown and everything that we got involved with was excellent. Leeuwin Estate and the event organisers do a great job. To see all in one day is not possible so we will come both days next year.
My friend and I also went to the Neil Finn concert and were a bit disappointed with the venue and the sound with the first two bands as it seemed the music was too loud for the singers. Neil’s show was much better – he was fantastic and the food there was excellent.
There were a lot of comments from people around us that it was too cramped and that the stage was too small and that it should have been where Sandalford winery has its other concerts.
But with an event as big as the Gourmet Escape, overall it was excellent and was a great way to showcase the South West.
I live on Molloy Island and really appreciate the fact that we live here and that such events occur here. I look forward to 2015.
