It’s not every day a school is able to host its own film festival, but this was the case last Friday at Geographe Primary School.
The Magic Possum Film Festival saw over 12 entries across the year groups create a three minute film about life in Busselton.
Organised by P and C member and parent Christine Hofmann, she said donations for prizes from the event sponsors had been incredibly generous, with the multiple contributions helping to lift the festival off the ground.
Numerous entries highlighted students love of the beach, the cultural precinct and the fun activities there are to do around Busselton.
There was also Harry Potter jokes, ACDC songs which students responded very well to, gymnastic skills, Busselton ‘fails’, lots of special effects and clever song creation all on display.
A high commendation went to Matty Morgan with his video ‘My Life In Busselton’, while third prize was taken out by Sophie Pradera and Bella Lange with their clever take on the song All About that Bass, with ‘All about that place Busselton.’
‘Busselton Invasion’ was the runner up, with Lachlan Davies and James Russell being commended on their impressive use of special FX.
Top spot was awarded to Celia Whiteside and Naledi Jonas for their ‘Life in Busselton’ video, with judge Peter Camplin saying it was an entertaining, engaging showcase of Busselton which would make him want to live here if he didn’t already.
Each entry received a pass to Aquatastic Water Park.
“We might run it again next year, so start thinking about your entries now,” Principal Timothy Baker told students.
