THE LONG serving efforts of Ray Toia as the immediate past president of Busselton and Sugito Sister Cities Association have been acknowledged eternally with a bench dedicated in his honour.
Located in the tranquil Japanese gardens, Mr Toia’s bench was crafted by the gentlemen of the Busselton Men’s Shed.
Men’s Shed member Philip Atherton said that the club sought to repay the support shown to them whenever possible, as it has been tremendous.
BASSCA president Pauline Vukelic said that the bench looked wonderful in its new surrounds and was a much needed commendation to the work of Mr Toia.
“A big well done to Ray, it’s very well deserved.”
Mr Toia was in awe of the bench and plaque dedicated to his work.
“I’m amazed by the whole thing,” Mr Toia said.
The BASSCA group will be having their next delegation to Japan in 2016.
