A FIVE star guesthouse was destroyed in a Yallingup bushfire on Monday.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services placed Gunyulgup Valley Drive in Yallingup on high alert on Monday evening when they lost control of a bushfire.
Local resident Peter Felton said he saw the Cairn Hill Homestead property on Nukklgup Loop on fire when he arrived home from work.
"I could see part of the Cairn Hill Bed and Breakfast property was engulfed in flames," Mr Felton said.
Mr Felton believed the culprit of the fire was a power pole.
DFES have since placed the area under a reduced risk alert and said although there was no immediate danger, residents needed to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changed.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and was reported at 4.54pm on Monday.
