BUSSELTON Geographe Bay Rotary Club invites residents to an Australia Day breakfast on the Busselton beachfront.
The festivities begin with a march at 7am with people encouraged to join in from Victoria Square near the Queen Street traffic lights.
Member for Vasse MLA Libby Mettam will deliver a short Australia Day address, after which the Mayor will present the Premier's Australia Day Active Citizen Awards.
The City of Busselton mayor Ian Stubbs said 30 people would make an Australian citizenship pledge which was an increase from last year’s number.
“People are drawn to the South West for a variety of reasons, the relaxed lifestyle, natural beauty and mild climate,” Mr Stubbs said.
“Many settle here for professional and family reasons.
“This year we have citizens from Falkland Island, United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Philippians, India, New Zealand and Switzerland.”
After the formal part of the morning is completed, an Australian breakfast will be served from 8.15am onwards, with the Busselton District Brass Band playing in the background.
The breakfast is $5 per adult and a gold coin donation for children under 14 years.
Rotary will give all proceeds to local, national and international projects such as Sail into Life and disaster relief in the Philippines.
The breakfast is the first official duties of the Festival Queen winners who will have been announced at the previous night's Festival Concert and Fireworks.
