FOR those who can’t quite orchestrate an overseas trip for the moment, prepare to be transported abroad through the work of Erin Sullivan.
Taking the viewer to Barcelona, Spain and the Italian coast, Sullivan’s own travels have inspired her use of a mesmerising palette.
Featuring calming scenes of boats on waves in the Mediterranean Sea, Sullivan harnesses gentle blues, greens and warm tones to stabilise the image.
The Busselton based artist is renowned for her work as a costume and fashion designer.
Her fabric style contributes to her re-creation and use of pastels to emulate the female form and the interchange of light, line and fluidity in her work.
A self-described drawer using her pastels, her velvet-like texture creation and ability to capture light with her free-form is visually appealing in every sense.
Sullivan’s exhibition will be open from 11am-4pm daily at Wills Domain Gallery until the end of May.
