BUSSELTON Swimming Club has made an outstanding start to the 2015 short course season with an impressive weekend of swimming by seven of its talented young athletes.

On Saturday, Neve McDonald, Eden McDonald, Amy Kerr, Cara Viljoen, Tessa Viljoen and Jay Darnell represented the club at the Southlake Dolphins Short Course Carnival at HBF Stadium.
The athletes swam 19 personal best times between them including five each from Eden McDonald and Jay Darnell.
Youngsters Amy Kerr and Neve McDonald, who swam in the nine and under division, collected seven personal best times between them.
The club also amassed a total of 10 medals.
Tessa Viljoen claimed silver in the 200m Breaststroke while her sister Cara won four medals, including gold in the 200m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke.
Kerr came home with an incredible five medals.
Kerr won gold in the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Backstroke as well as silver in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle.
Tessa, Cara and Kerr backed up Saturday’s performance with outstanding achievements at the Swimming WA Short Course Pentathlon on Sunday.
A pentathlon requires swimmers to compete in five events with trophies being awarded to the athletes with the best aggregate times for those five swims. Tessa and Cara swam four personal best times between them to finish amongst the trophies in the 15 and over division.
Tessa finished in sixth place while Cara also claimed a trophy for an eighth place finish.
Kerr continued her top ten state performances by bringing home the fourth place trophy in the nine-year old division.
Kerr also finished the weekend ranked first in the state and 13th in Australia for the 100m Breaststroke.
The Pentathlon was especially significant for the Busselton Swimming Club as it marked the competitive swimming debut of Elissa Darnell, the clubs first swimmer to swim in the multiclass division.
Darnell had a sensational first meet finishing in the top two for both of her swims. Darnell came second in the 50m Backstroke and first in the 50m Freestyle.
