BUSSELTON police couldn’t believe their eyes when a Broadwater man removed a stash of drugs from his anus while in one of the station’s cells.
The 27-year-old man was arrested at 7pm on July 3 for breaching bail conditions.
Busselton police acting senior sergeant Justin Budden said officers had searched the man before he entered the cell.
“If we suspect somebody is hiding drugs in hard to find areas we take them to the hospital for an X-ray, but we didn’t think it was needed in this case,” he said.
Senior Sergeant Budden said the officers witnessed the man pulling what appeared to be cannabis and a pink tablet out of his anus on CCTV footage.
The man told Senior Sergeant Budden he “stuck it up there before he was arrested”.
“It’s fairly rare to see someone in the process like this.”
