THE cold morning on Sunday didn't stop the Busselton ladies reserves from coming out firing from the first whistle against Dalyellup.
It didn't take long for the home side to get a score on the board with a great run down the right from Emily Fleay delivering a great through ball to striker Ariana Dawson who found the gap to youngster Riana Coshott to score a well-placed left foot ball past the keeper.
Busselton seemed to take control for the next 30 minutes with a flurry of three goals in a matter of minutes, Fleay was rewarded with a solo run down the wing to score, followed by a great finish from Dawson then shortly after Melissa Belk turned on her defender to shoot past the keeper.
Busselton ladies were all smiles and the talk on field was consistent.
With captain Sher Toohey away, Leanne Chromow took her captaincy role in her stride, keeping the momentum flowing Busselton's way with her regular chatter to the team.
Playing through the centre of the park, Chromow found herself within the mix throughout the game and definitely enjoyed the standard the team was playing.
With the score 4-0 before the end of the first half, Dalyellup needed the main break but not before Fleay had other ideas as she scored her second.
Words from Dalyellup's coach at the half time break worked as the team went back on the field re-focused.
However, Busselton's backline remained calm and consistent when controlling the ball out after a Dalyellup attempt to push forward.
Lisa Blechynden, Emy Hayward, Sherinne Armstrong and Danielle Durrant all held strong throughout the second term ensuring no real threat was placed on keeper Stacey Rouse.
Busselton finally broke the Dalyellup defense after 10 minutes with Morgan Armstrong delivering a beautiful through ball to striker Dawson who took no risks with a great strike.
A chance for Dawson to score a hatrick came when she was awarded a penalty only to be denied by a great save from the Dalyellup keeper.
After an outstanding game, Fleay was rewarded with a hatrick when she scored in the final 10 minutes, this was closely followed by the final goal of the game with Emy Hayward who had been strong in the backline all game came back on in the final minutes, assistant coach Susan Shand gave her the chance up forward and Emy capitalised scoring from close range.
The Busselton ladies were a tight unit on the pitch on Sunday, between the constant talk and great passing they were never really under attack from the opposition and had the Dalyellup keeper working hard all game.
The youngsters of the Busselton side shone on the pitch with the Coshott and Armstrong girls continually on the ball and directing play, this can only excite Busselton knowing these are the future of the club.
Captain Leanne Chromow praised their whole team effort and uplifting attitude and laughter throughout the game.
The team remains second on the table under Hay Park by two points, with the title within reach next week they will again be hoping for a solid team effort.
