FLY in fly out workers were caught exiting Busselton Regional Airport’s car park using fraudulent tickets to avoid paying parking fees.
Damage to the car park’s exit barriers was also reported.
City of Busselton’s chief executive Mike Archer said it was clear a small number of FIFO passengers were exiting the car park using fraudulent tickets during July and August.
“This situation has been rectified and is no longer occurring,” he said.
Mr Archer said city officers observed the situation for a while and believed it had been occurring for several weeks.
Changes have since been made to the car parking system to disable the operating function that allowed people to exit using fraudulent tickets.
“Changes to the system have been made to prevent future occurrences,” said Mr Archer.
