A City of Busselton councillor whose term expires in October is concerned that an intending candidate is telling ratepayers that she won't be running again.
Cr Coralie Tarbotton said she had every intention of seeking re-election and found it surprising that a potential candidate would be saying she would not seek another term on council.
"I don't know the motive behind it, other than they believe they will get some advantage in the election by implying I won't be nominating," she said.
"I can't speak for the other four councillors whose term expires in October, but I definitely will be putting my hand up again," Cr Tarbotton said.
"It has been a challenging four years on council, but I believe a lot has been achieved by us in that time.
"It may be a cliche, but there are some unfinished projects that I would like to see through, having been a part of them. I have been fortunate to be on a diverse range of committees which I believe has given me a very good understanding of community needs.
"I would like to continue being involved with the development and implementation of the Strategic Community Plan.
"We are in exciting times. The airport has got the funding so desperately needed for it to advance, the rest of the foreshore development is fast taking shape, we are in an advanced stage of a new performing arts centre, the problem at Port Geographe seems to have been resolved and the new traffic plan for Dunsborough town centre is progressing.
"This is all part of the positive growth for the city and gives the community a lot to look forward to and I would like to be involved in."
