HAVING gone two seasons without a victory, the Margaret River Hawks have now won two consecutive Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association A Grade games.
Losing the toss and being sent in to field, Margaret River held St Mary’s to 7/194 from 50 overs.
Openers Adam Holt (29) and Jeremy Murphy (44) set the pace with Marc Ford (51) posting a half-century at number four.
Late wickets kept St Mary’s to a reachable target with Jonathon Lloyd finishing on 31 not out.
Spinner Peter Crimp was the pick of the Margaret River bowlers, capturing the first three batsmen on the card.
In reply, the Hawks finished 50 overs at 8/195 with Ben Mattock, Chris Massey and Daniel Crain each taking two wickets.
The upsets continued in Cowaramup with the home side scoring victory over Dunsborough.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Dunsborough opener Devyn Coote (5) was bowled by a brute of a ball from quick Cameron Hall.
Fellow opener Jordan Temple (35) and captain Aaron Mott (66) steadied the ship until both were run out.
Shane Edwards (22) and Chris Dudley (11) added to the total before the tail was skittled to see Dunsborough all out for 172.
The Bulls chased down the target inside 37 overs with one wicket to spare to claim the premiership points.
Four wickets to Edwards and three to Matt Cooper were almost enough to see Dunsborough hold on.
The news was less good for Cowaramup in the B Grade competition.
Also up against Dunsborough the Bulls were bowled out for 64 with Dunsborough reaching the score for the fall of a single wicket.
St Mary’s were bowled out for 107 against Augusta who managed just 67 in reply.
An undefeated century to Yobs batsman Jake Wain (106 not out) lifted his side to 6/244 which proved to strong for Margaret River (6/158).
In the C Grade competition, Dunsborough pulled off a close win against Cowaramup.
Every Dunsborough player bar the wicket keeper had the chance to bowl with Cowaramup posting 8/155.
A knock of 57 not out from Bob Biddulph was the performance of the innings.
In reply Dunsborough got to 7/163 from 25 overs to take the points.
Yobs dismissed Margaret River for 88 and chased down the target for a loss of four wickets while 8/92 from St Mary’s was not enough to defeat Nannup who made 5/96 inside 25 overs.
