FOLKS at the Busselton Lifestyle Village turned out in huge numbers to raise money for the people effected by the Esperance bushfires.
Social club president Norbet van Heerwaarden said the bushfires had deeply impacted some of the residents at the village who had relatives and friends living in Esperance.
Mr van Heerwaarden said the social club put on morning tea with a few scones and half the village turned up to support the fundraiser.
“We hope to raise what ever we can which will go directly to the people who were effected by the bushfires,” he said.
“Everyone is doing their little bit to help whatever we can do it helps.”
The village exceeded their own expectations and raised over $1000 for the bushfire appeal which was topped up with a further $1000 donation from the social club.
Resident Margaret Browne who helped organise the event said the club was thrilled and proud of their achievements.
