A BUSSELTON woman has thanked South West communities for their generous donations Operation Christmas Child.
The project run by Samaritan’s Purse sees gift boxes of made up from donations and sent to those in need overseas.
Local coordinator Helen Baker said the generosity of those in the region has been incredible.
“Donations from Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River have helped us to put together 557 boxes which are now on their way to Perth,” she said.
“From there, they will be sent to Vietnam and Cambodia for those less fortunate.”
Items included in the boxes included clothes, toys, personal hygiene products and school supplies.
Mrs Baker said the collections was a whole-community effort with St Joseph’s Primary School, Cornerstone Christian College, Our Lady of the Cape school, the Cornerstone Church craft group and the Busselton Baptist Church all involved.
“Many of the donations come from groups who spend the year sewing and knitting home-made clothes,” she said.
