THE Busselton Busselton Masters Swimming Club are gearing up for the winter season and would like new members to join them.
The swimming club is all about fitness, friendship and fun and the group is committed to continuing their summer fitness level throughout winter.
Busselton Masters Swimming Club member Darryl Kelly said membership to the club was a positive step towards a healthier life and meeting new people who share an interest in swimming.
“And of course developing your swimming strokes,” he said.
The masters group is part of the Busselton Swimming Club and is open to anyone who would like to join that is aged 18 years and over and any level of swimmer.
The Busselton Masters Swimming Club began in January 2015 and there are currently 22 registered members.
The group runs summer and winter programs which focus on open water swimming, ocean training, pool swims and coaching.
The winter program runs a coaching session on Tuesdays from 6pm to 7pm at the Geographe Leisure Centre in the outdoor pool.
On Friday evenings they hold supervised sessions at the Geographe Leisure Centre in the outdoor pool from 6pm to 7pm.
On occasional Saturdays, the group will meet for polar bear swimming at the Yallingup Lagoon which is followed by brunch at Lamont’s on Smiths Beach.
During summer the Busselton club meet at the jetty for swims along the coastline and weekly pool swims at the Geographe Leisure Centre.
“When people get together in a competition sense that’s when we get to know each other and have some fun,” he said.
They also participate in regional competitions with other clubs and the jetty swim and get together for monthly social dinners at different cafes and restaurants around Busselton.
