MICK Fanning has confronted his demons at J-Bay South Africa to win the prestigious J-Bay Open against Hawaii’s John John Florence. Fanning showed immense courage and skill to surf his way to victory in 3-4 footers where he wiped out the opposition with his high speed, rail carving A-game. Fanning took down Brazil’s Filipe Toledo and fellow Aussie Julian Wilson which consequently also helped his countryman Matt Wilkinson retain the world number one ranking.
Dunsborough and Yallingup grommets competed strongly at the State Junior Titles in Geraldton last weekend. Wintery conditions meant there were no shortage of waves for the event and all competitors relished the opportunity to compete for their individual State Titles.
