GREG McDermott is a man on a mission – the 34 year old is in the midst of a 15,000 kilometre bike ride around Australia, raising money for charity Youth off The Streets along the way.
The rider rode into Busselton on Sunday, before taking off from Fat Duck Cycles and Espresso nice and early on Monday morning.
The formerly overweight, depressed and self-confessed binge-drinker has since turned his life around – he lost 30 kilograms three years ago and has since become an endurance triathlete, Ironman and Ultraman.
During his journey, which started off in Sydney on September 3, McDermott has rode an average of 180km a day.
So far he has raised $12,078 out of the $50,000 he hopes to give to Youth Off The Streets, which helps disconnected young people to discover greatness within by engaging, supporting and providing opportunities to encourage and facilitate positive life choices.
