WITH a little help from the Lions Club of Busselton, Lamp Inc received a generous donation which will be used to roll out programs to young people dealing with anxiety.
Lions Club of Busselton president Geoff Littlefair said the donation was part of an ongoing project that would contribute to helping with youth issues in the community.
“It is tied up with the 100 years of Lions Clubs, we had a 115 clubs in Australia put in $1000 into a kitty and organisations within those communities could apply for a grant to do something and Lamp Inc happened to win ours,” he said.
“The money will be used for youth programs which focus on the troubles young people have these days.”
Lamp Inc chief executive officer Lorrae Loud said the new programs would focus on young people who experience anxiety and any support received by her organisation was most appreciated.
“We are are seeing a lot of young people with anxiety in our community,” she said.
Lamp Inc worker Paula Farley said the Unicorn program, which they would develop with the grant from the Lions Club, would focus on primary school aged children.
“It is an early intervention program, we use the unicorn as a symbol for the children and will roll out the program early next year,” she said.
