The Busselton Bowling Club hosted the Busselton 1000 over the New Year with 44 teams from Esperance to Perth competing in the event.
The greens committee presented four top line surfaces to play on over the two days which proved to be no trouble for most entrants.
After four games, four teams had won them all - Dunsborough had many shots up and looked a certain winner – however final games are hard to win and they met a determined Busselton in the last game of the competition and went down 8/20.
Augusta, Skippered by Andrew Drayton started their campaign with a sub in Brian Hathaway while Bruce Edgar joined team mates Jeff Marshall and Roger Wilson on the second day.
Their fifth game was won 12/5 and they were blissfully unaware they had a chance to win the event.
They had a 10/9 win against Martin Wattleworth’s team in the last game which was a tournament winner.
The team from Augusta was crowned winners on the day and finished with a score of 18 points plus 34.
