A grant to hold the South West Harmony Festival during Harmony Week was given to the Dunsborough Districts and Progress Association.
Vasse MP Libby Mettam presented a $4000 Healthway sponsorship so the event could be held this year.
Ms Mettam said it was a wonderful event which brought the community together to celebrate our rich cultural diversity through sharing traditional foods, stories and dance.
“The 2017 South West Harmony Festival will play an important role encouraging good health and healthy lifestyles by promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message, thanks to $4000 funding from the State Government through Healthway.”
The South West Harmony Festival will take place on Sunday, March 19 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm at Almond Parkway in Provence Estate.
Local people from different backgrounds including Aboriginal people, migrants from Nigeria, France, South Africa, Kenya, India, Japan, Malaysia and Holland will join others from the broader Busselton community to prepare their favourite recipes and share the food with patrons at the festival.
Entertainment and free workshops and activities also celebrate the multicultural community in the area and promote positive mental health and community connectedness.
The state government will provide $19 million through Healthway, which is part of funding and a commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of the West Australian community.
