A 40-year-old Orelia man has been charged after he allegedly led police on a dramatic car chase through Perth's southern suburbs, which ended after police were forced to blow out two of the stolen vehicle's tyres.
The incident occurred at around 5.40pm on Tuesday evening, when police attempted to stop an Audi TT on Barrington Street in Bibra Lake.
The vehicle failed to stop, and officers gave chase.
WA Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said police set up a tyre deflation device on Wattleup Road in Hammond Park in order to stop the driver.
"However the car continued evading police through streets in Hammond Park and through to North Coogee," she said.
"The car then left the road and entered a park off Lucretia Circle in Coogee. It travelled down a set of stairs and continued on through further streets."
The vehicle lost two tyres during the chase, and a second tyre deflation device was deployed by officers on Russell and Rockingham Roads.
The car continued through red traffic lights and eventually stopped on Rockingham Road.
The driver attempted to flee the scene, but officers quickly apprehended him.
Police say the car the man was driving was allegedly stolen from a residence in Piara Waters in early August, and the man had been charged a string of offences - including methamphetamine possession, aggravated failure to stop, reckless driving and motor vehicle theft.
He will appear in court a later date.
