Students at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School have been busy over the last few weeks, with several high profile visits to the school.
Joel Jackson visited students on Thursday, August 24 while he was in the region as part of CinefestOZ.
Mr Jackson grew up in North Western Australia and is best known for his roles in Peter Allen,
Not the Boy Next Door and Charles Bean in Deadline Gallipoli.
Mr Jackson spoke to students about his varied acting career and what he loved about living in regional WA.
He shared that he first paid acting role was in Red Dog and discussed how much fun it was to work on the film Jungle with Daniel Radcliffe.
He also let students know that he was good friends with their Principal Ted Kosicki.
Ben Aldridge visited the school on Thursday, August 31 to share his story with Year 9 students.
Mr Aldridge survived a 10 metre drop, which left him a quadriplegic.
Mr Aldridge has not let this stop him and spends his time giving motivational speeches and informative talks.
He discussed a range of topics with the GMAS students.
He talked about his ongoing battle with addiction, mental health, and the importance of seeking help, finding a purpose and resilience.
Mr Aldridge provided students with some great tips and tricks to keep going, don't stress over the things you cannot control, celebrate the small wins,
take a break, remember that life means change, don't dwell on the what if’s and most importantly laugh.
Students found the talk very informative, saying they loved how positive Mr Aldridge is.
The Scorchers Cricket Van also visited the school.
Students in years 1 to 3 invited to share in a game of T20 cricket and try their luck at bowling each other out.
