THE 21st annual Gracetown Grommets contest is being held this weekend around the Cowaramup Bay area.
Held in memory of the nine lives lost in the Gracetown cliff tragedy, the historical event is mobile so the contest can find the best waves possible for the talented junior riders.
There are multiple divisions competing from 12 and under to 16 and under and the event is designed to provide an opportunity for junior Cowaramup Boardriders club members to compete at an amateur level against statewide competitors.
The best day of surf will be chosen and see the 64 competitors charge for the 2017 title.
FORECAST: Thursday looks great with clean ENE winds and a 1.9m swell and similar conditions on Friday with E winds and a slightly bigger 2.1m swell. The weekend packs it in with onshore winds from the W to SW and a rising 2m swell to 2.5m swell on Sunday. HOTSPOT: 3 Bears on Thursday.
