With the construction of the new terminal for the Busselton-Margaret River Airport development on the horizon, the South West Development Commission is inviting local businesses to find out about the range of opportunities associated with the project.
An information and networking session has been organised for Wednesday December 6, ahead of the close of the tender for the design and construction of the terminal building and associated services at the airport.
A key component of the multi-million dollar development, works will include the completion of detailed design, as well as construction of the terminal building and forecourt and associated services.
SWDC acting chief executive officer Rebecca Ball encouraged local businesses to come along, learn about the project and make connections.
“This is a chance for local businesses to find out if there might be opportunities for them in regards to this game-changing project that will help shape the future of the South West by unlocking new economic prospects,” Ms Ball said.
On completion, the redeveloped airport will enable interstate flights to destinations including Melbourne and Sydney, and international passenger and freight opportunities to South East Asia and China.
The new terminal will be capable of accommodating these expanded operations and services that will support future growth across the region.
Ms Ball said the Local Project, Local Opportunities event had been organised as part of the State Government’s local content officer program, which aims to keep as many local jobs and tenders in regional areas.
“Where possible, we want South West businesses to get a slice of the action when it comes to State Government-funded projects,” Ms Ball said.
The Local Project, Local Opportunities event will be held from 11am on Wednesday December 6 at the Undalup Room at the City of Busselton.
Registrations are essential and close 4pm, Tuesday December 5.
