Activ team members from Busselton are taking part in their first City to Surf event this year to help raise funds for the organisation which helps them.
Jacob Beamish and Siobhan Peters have never participated in the event before but have been there to cheer on other competitors in previous years.
This year the pair will take on the course and hope to give back to Activ.
Ms Peters said she had started training for the event which will be held in Busselton on Sunday, July 29 and will walk four kilometres to help raise money for the not-for-profit organisation.
“I have been enjoying it,” she said.
“Activ helps me do work where I clean and wash bottles, I really enjoy it,” she said.
“I also make soaps, serviettes and work on the pure wine bottles.”
Mr Beamish said he volunteered at last year’s event where he stood out on the Barnard Park foreshore holding a sign and got absolutely saturated.
He said this year he would take on the challenge to run the circuit with the other competitors and his fellow team mates from Activ.
“Activ is my mode of transport until I am more confident to drive, they get me to work and sporting events,” he said.
Activ is a WA disability services provider which provides accommodation, recreation, respite, employment and life skills to enable people living with disability to pursue the life they choose.
The organisation has been in WA since 1951 and offers a variety of services out of more than 100 locations across the state.
