Call for locals to join Busselton Jetty Swim crew

As one of the most anticipated events on the Western Australian recreation calendar, Busselton Jetty Swim draws in nearly 5,000 swimmers from around the world.

The committee is managed under the auspices of the Busselton Allsports Inc, a not-for-profit association aiming to inspire people of all abilities to swim, and implement initiatives to support the local community.

President Kat Rafferty expressed her pride at being a part of the diligent and collaborative team.

"I am always amazed by the generosity and compassion of our committee," she said.

"Everyone is always willing to assist each other throughout the year.

"It's truly heartwarming to see everyone come together to make this event a success, and I feel honoured to be a part of such a wonderful group of volunteers."

Committee members have the opportunity to collaborate on all aspects of event coordination including swimming, merchandise, volunteers, administration, registration, entertainment, marketing, equipment, sponsorships, functions, and risk management.

Committee meetings are held once or twice a month in Busselton.

Members also regularly attend local engagements with the community, and organise their own social activities.

With the group's Annual General Meeting coming up, Kat Rafferty said all positions would be declared open, offering the chance to join the team and play a significant role in the planning and execution of the event.

"With a significant project planned for next year and some exciting announcements coming, we are eagerly anticipating new members to join the team," Kat said.

The committee is already busy preparing for the 30th anniversary celebration in 2025, to be held on February 8 and 9 next year.
