FOUR cases of Hepatitis A have been confirmed in Busselton by WA Country Health.

The cases include two mothers and their young children who have not traveled overseas or interstate.
WA Country Health Service South West senior public health nurse Amanda Whittle said investigations were ongoing to find out the source of the outbreak but at this stage there were no clear links.
She said there was no specific treatment for Hepatitis A and the best way to protect yourself was with two doses of vaccine, six months apart.
“It is important to consider vaccination if travelling to endemic countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines and other parts of SE Asia,” she said.
Those who have been in close contact with the affected persons have been offered vaccination against hepatitis A and others who have been identified at lower-risk contacts have been provided with advice and information.
Information has also been provided to GP surgeries in Busselton, Community Health staff and the Emergency Department staff in Busselton and Bunbury.
Hepatitis A is an inflammation of the liver and symptoms include tiredness, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, body aches and jaundice.
